An American Prophecy is the award-winning film directed and produced by Black artist and social entrepreneur Aaron Dworkin. The docudrama features front-line health care workers of the COVID-19 pandemic as they explore the human condition through Khalil Gibran's 1923 masterpiece, The Prophet. Our goal is to provide those who have been sacrificing on the battlefront with COVID-19 a unique opportunity to be heard artistically and share their experiences through their interpretation of text that was written almost a century ago. Courage, talent, fear and loss along with a sense of fulfillment are explored by a diverse cast of six real-world characters including a bi-racial doctor with a speech impediment on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle in New York City and medical professionals facing the pandemic from Los Angeles, Maryland and Michigan as they strive to find meaning that will empower them to help heal our world and understand themselves.

Each cast member recites chapters from The Prophet informed by and infused with the struggles and triumphs of their modern lives while footage reflecting the text is intertwined with an active soundtrack that conveys the emotions of the moment. The film interprets this timeless text through the voices of doctors and nurses who have been fighting to save lives in our hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other facilities. While the text was originally published in 1923, it has never been out of print and has been translated into more than 100 languages reflecting its ability to evoke our humanity from diverse cultural and age perspectives. Ultimately, An American Prophecy speaks to the reality of connection we all have through time, cast and culture despite the isolation and duality that is all too common in a modern world. The film was produced in collaboration with Emmy award winning producer Robin Schwartz.
